Another Joanna Newsom Track Released, Listen at Drag City

by:

Drag City has put up another Joanna Newsom track from her upcoming album, Have One on Me. The song is titled “Good Intentions Paving Company” and it’s quite different from the last one. Not better or worse, mind you, but just different… perhaps a little more jubilant and funky. A little more Buffy Saint-Marie. A little less cryptic and billowy, and a little more about love and traipsing piano and some back-up singers. And, it’s also a little longer… about seven minutes.

You should go listen to it now, because last time this happened over at Drag City with a new Newsom song, their site exploded into a million tiny pieces, each one signifying her awesomeness.

Oh, and that you see there is the cover art, which was also revealed earlier this week. I have to say, the marketing efforts to build hype around this record are working wonders. And I’d be a tad bit put off by such a thing, except that at the end of all of it is some downright wonderful music.
