Is Lady Gaga a Pawn of Occult Forces?

[via LA Weekly]

Just recently I saw Lady Gaga in concert and spoke a little about how I thought she might be the second coming of Christ. And then today I ran into an article in LA Weekly that reports on the Illuminati symbolism in her attire, videos, and songs via the Vigilant Citizen blog, which investigates the hidden symbols all around us. They claim her whole persona is about “mind control, where being vacuous, incoherent, and absent-minded becomes a fashionable thing.”

LA Weekly went on to truncate VC’s blog post about Gaga in a list of Top Ten Signs Lady Gaga Is a Pawn of Occult Forces. While I’m going to go ahead and say that this is all pretty laughable, because Gaga just knows some awesome shit when she sees it, if nothing else, this a somewhat interesting read in a conspiracy theory sort of way. That and it leaves quite an impression that some folks have too much goddamn time on their hands. Two of my personal favorites are number 9 and number 7.

9. “You only need to look at a couple of Lady Gaga pictures or videos to notice that she is constantly hiding one of her eyes. Most people will simply interpret this as ‘a cool thing to do’ or a ‘fashion statement.’ Those who have passed the 101 of Illuminati symbolism know that the All-Seeing Eye is probably its most recognizable symbol. The gesture of hiding one eye, usually the left one, goes way back in occult orders.”

I now wonder if all those emo haircuts can be targeted for the same thing? I’m totally starting that rumor. Oh, and…

7. “Almost all of Lady Gaga’s videos contain occult symbolism and not-so-subtle hints referring to mind control.” In “The Brain,” an introductory video to her shows, “Lady G is talking in a vaporous [sic] and robotic way, as if she was lobotomized, about a man who ’swallowed her brain.’ Gaga is questioned by a man who is talking in a very strange and hypnotic matter. If this is not about mind control, I have no idea what its about.”

I still don’t understand why “mind control” is such an occult statement to make. Mind control itself would be one thing, but a statement on it having a presence in our society is exactly what art should do.

In other words: What. EVER.

Thanks for this interesting piece. Occult forces, eh? And a recent article in Psychology Today was talking about people worshiping celebrities, as though they were Jesus, using Lady Gaga and Tiger Woods as examples. Such views paint a dim picture of humanity. I find the various theories that – take your pick, she’s a witch or freemason (maybe she was a Rainbow girl) – ridiculous but amusing to read. I suppose a few dimwits believe it. She is very smart and creative and does seem to have fun playing with symbols. As for your examples, #9 exaggerates with the eye covering. Both of her eyes are clearly visible most of the time. Her eye play is eye catching to be sure. I think that’s the point. It’s a fashion and art statement rather than Illuminati silliness. (I’m meeting her next week – maybe I ask if she would show me her secret handshake.) As for #7, I think the robotic voice relates to the monster theme and battling one’s demons. I think that this conspiracy stuff is really misogynist. Wise women were targeted as witches in our country’s early history. Why were women picked on, then as now? Our culture fears strong intelligent and bold women. So, people try to knock them down, calling them bimbos or witches.
