Pop-punk Band All Time Low Target of Anti-Gay Church
[via Daily Swarm]
Over a ChartAttack, there’s a recent post about the hateful anti-gay church group, Westboro Baptist Church, led by all-around creeper Fred Phelps, having issued a statement on their website godhatesfags.com that they’ll be picketing All Time Low’s show in Philly on Dec. 6th. The group believes, essentially, that every bad event in the world is hinged upon God’s anger about homosexuality. Jesus, really?
Their insane, birdbrained statement said this: “How do you know how far gone a society is? You look at their social icons. When you look at these gender-confused, haphazard freakazoids then you can plainly see that america is DOOMED, for real!”
Now, before we get all “church is stupid” up in this piece, it should be noted that Westboro Baptist Church isn’t actually affiliated with any mainstream Baptist church. Also, the Southern Poverty Law Center and ADL (Anti-Defamation League) has listed and labeled them as a hate group. They also apparently hate Jews, Hindus, African Americans, etc etc etc… essentially everyone but themselves. They actually picket funerals of people who died from AIDS. What. The. FUCK.
I wouldn’t even be commenting on this at all since Westboro’s idiocy speaks quite clearly for itself, except that I do think it’s a tad bit important to know that these types of people actually exist. And also to think, in advance, about how to deal with people like this if they’re protesting anywhere you find yourself. They say they don’t believe in violence, but with this kind of hate (the all-encompassing kind), who knows? And because of that, I wouldn’t even begin to suggest the proper way to go about protesting their protest, but I suppose it would have something to do with getting every gay person in Philly to stand outside the venue and make out. Of course, if your Michael Moore, you do it like this:
If you are an All Time Low fan, please visit their MySpace page where you can lend some support and see when their tour hits your town.

We should never call them a “church”! Self loving “hate group” will do fine! Thay have a big need to be looked at, and that is all thay want.
PEOPLE NEED TO CALM THE F*CK DOWN.
poor gays.): i thought churches want peace?
guess not.
People like this give Christians a bad name. (And I say that as a Christian, who believes none of what that church is doing, and would never even think of doing something like that.)
