Pelican’s New Album Streaming on MySpace

pelican_largeDudes. Here’s some great free music you don’t have to steal: Pelican’s latest release, their debut on Southern Lord, What We All Come to Need.

As Pelican has, in the past, shifted their metal-inspired instrumental music from their heavier foundation to some experimental jamming à la Tortoise, they’ve also always kept it moody and ominous. And that’s no different here… in fact, maybe the switch over to Southern Lord reinstated their love for the doom as well as the glory. This new album has both, and it’s wholly satisfying… not a clunker in the bunch. I mean, their older stuff still contains way more baddass-ness, but a track like “Ephemeral” is hard to deny for any fan of stoner and doom metal.
