Video of the Day: Big Dipper’s “Faith Healer”
by: Michael Harkin
(”Faith Healer” appears on the Boo-Boo EP and Supercluster: The Big Dipper Anthology)
If you’re into Weezer’s early days or brainy/brawny ’80s indie rock in the vein of Mission of Burma, the wonderful and wholly underrated Big Dipper has a great shot at hitting your proverbial “spot.”
The Boston-based band is long defunct, but rising from the ashes of the Volcano Suns and the Embarrassment, they released an EP and a handful of terrific, life-affrming LPs between 1987-1990.
Last year, Merge Records reissued Big Dipper’s debut EP and first two albums (along with a boatload of bonus material) in a limited edition box, Supercluster, and somehow it hasn’t sold out yet! You oughta snap it up on the quick, just so you’re not without the Dippah any longer than you have to be.
