Rock Art Rock: Issue 3.24d
Thomas Mars of Phoenix
Paradise, Boston, MA
June 17, 2009
By Patrick Proctor
Phoenix’s live act is ridiculously bullet proof, but it’s almost always a full energy affair. That’s why we were glad to grab this slightly-more-stoic moment at the band’s Boston gig. We’re pretty convinced that this show (at the Paradise) was the last time we’ll ever get to see them in a small room, so we were even more psyched to capture one of Thomas Mars’ quieter moments. The band’s ability to squeeze in some subtlety to their poppy goodness is one of the many things that makes Phoenix one of the best live bands out there today.
