Rock Art Rock: Issue 3.06a
Anthony Kiedis
Coachella Festival, Main Stage
April 28, 2007
By Jimi Giannatti
Shot on the Main Stage at the end of the second day of Coachella, the challenge of shooting the Red Hot Chili Peppers was more about fighting through the throng of my fellow-photogs in the pit than anything else. Just finding a spot with a decent vantage point amongst the pack of more than 200-plus photographers can be daunting. Once the lights went out and the band hit the stage, absolute chaos ensued, with the photographers rushing the stage and trampling over everybody in their way (we eat our own). My personal challenge (besides not getting knocked down) was trying to get a shot that would capture the high-voltage energy of a Chili Peppers performance.
