Rock Art Rock: Issue 2.17
Phil Spector
January 5, 1969
Phil Spector’s Home, Los Angeles
Photography by Baron Wolman
It’s high time for a little Phil Spector action. Acclaimed producer, songwriter, Wall of Sound creator, staple on the rock ‘n’ roll circuit, this snapshot captured in 1969 by first Rolling Stone photographer Baron Wolman shows Spector the same year as his cameo appearance in the classic film Easy Rider, and shortly after signing a production deal with A&M Records. He, of course, still had long, storied, and controversial years in front of him at this junction, but way back when this photo was taken no one could have predicted what path his career and personal life would take. This photo is just a brief flashback into the man responsible for a tremendous collection of musical works…
