Rock Art Rock: Issue 2.06
Albert King, the Loading Zone, Ten Years After, Canned Heat
June 25—June 30, 1968
Fillmore Auditorium
Artwork by Lee Conklin
When it came to creating psychedelic imagery, Lee Conklin took the crown. BG126 reveals more with each perusal, revealing ubiquitous breasts and butts with every viewing. The first lineup on this double-billed poster featured two great blues-rockers, pioneering bluesman Albert King and Linda Tillery’s Loading Zone, and the second headlined Ten Years After with virtuoso guitar player Alvin Lee and traditionalists Canned Heat. A true representation of what psychedelic poster art could encompass in its scope, the work of Conklin today stands as an example of the graphic capabilities of LSD.
