Rock Art Rock: Issue 1.48
Joni Mitchell, Laurel Canyon, CA, 1968
Photography by Baron Wolman
Joni Mitchell was one of the most important singer-songwriters of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Her iconoclastic musical style has influenced a countless number of musicians in her wake, and she continues to be an enduring presence on the rock and folk scenes today. Baron Wolman captured a young Joni Mitchell in this vibrant photograph. “This was taken at her home in the Laurel Canyon district of Los Angeles. We had tea—Joni was gracious and hospitable. The colors in this image represent the spirit of the 1960s.” – Baron Wolman
