Rock Art Rock: Issue 1.32
Wilfred Satty, San Francisco, 1966
Photography by Gene Anthony
Gene Anthony’s prolific lens once again captured a slice San Francisco’s counterculture with this 1966 photo of visual artist Wilfred Satty. German-born Satty relocated to San Francisco in 1965 and became a staple on the scene, staging huge underground parties and becoming an influential poster artist of the psychedelic age. A fall from a ladder abruptly ended his life in 1982, but his works and legacy continue to resonate through the world of visual arts.
