Rock Art Rock: Issue 1.29

Miles Davis, Fillmore West, May 6, 1971
Artwork by David Singer

David Singer was a collage artist, but BG279 represented his experimentation with freehand drawing. The experiment was clearly a success, and this swooping, linear sketch, Asian in flavor, is striking. In this poster, a male figure, referencing the moonn, tops a samurai-style figure. BG279 is also notable because Miles Davis, in his third appearance at Fillmore West, achieved top billing.
