Rock Art Rock: Issue 1.17
B.B. King, Winterland, December 1967
Photography and commentary by Baron Wolman
“This photo of B.B. King was taken backstage at Bill Graham’s Winterland in December 1967. It shows a younger, slimmer, very approachable and very hospitable B.B. relaxing before his performance with the trademark twinkle in his eye. I have always loved the light and the composition of this informal portrait. This photo, along with the one of Johnny Cash, appeared in Rolling Stone Issue #11 which featured my then-wife on the cover.”
