Rock Art Rock: Issue 1.07
Human Be-In, Golden Gate Park, Jan.14, 1967
Photography and commentary by Gene Anthony
“The Human Be-In was the creation of a few artists and poets that included Allen Ginsberg, billed as a gathering of the tribes and was held at the Polo Field in Golden Gate Park in January 1967. Poets and speakers, the Grateful Dead, and Big Brother were invited to a party that marked the end of the real Summer of Love and ushered in the commercial Summer of Love that was created by the media.”
